Responsible gambling

How to set a limit before you go in, which warning signs matter and where to ask for support.

Reviewed 06.09.2026Royal Yak Hipódromo editorial team (independent guide)

Gambling is paid entertainment, not a source of income. The house keeps an edge on every game of chance, so the right way to measure a visit is how much you are willing to spend, not how much you hope to win. Entry to gaming venues in Mexico is restricted to people aged 18 or over and requires official photo ID.

Before you go in

  • Set a money limit and decide it before you arrive. Take that amount and nothing more.
  • Set a time limit and a leaving time as well.
  • Keep the gambling budget separate from transport and food.
  • Never use money meant for rent, loans, school or household bills.
  • Play only with your own money: do not borrow or use credit to gamble.

During the session

  • Never chase losses: raising the stake to win it back does not change the odds.
  • Take regular breaks, and avoid playing when tired, rushed or drinking.
  • Walking away at your limit is the plan working, not a defeat.

Warning signs

It is worth stopping and asking for support if gambling stops being recreational: playing longer or for more than you planned, hiding how much you play, borrowing or selling something to keep playing, letting it affect work, study or relationships, or feeling anxiety, sleeplessness or guilt tied to a session.

Where to get help

Licensed gaming venues in Mexico are required to offer self-exclusion and voluntary blocking: ask at the venue's reception or the operator's customer service how to request it and what document you need.

  • Línea de la Vida — 800 911 2000. Free, confidential telephone guidance on mental health and addiction, run by Mexico’s National Commission for Mental Health and Addiction (Ministry of Health). Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, nationwide; the service is in Spanish. Official page on gob.mx.
  • Dirección General de Juegos y Sorteos (SEGOB). The federal authority that licenses and supervises betting games in Mexico. It runs a compulsive-gambling section with guidance, risk factors and a gambling self-test: DGJS gambling-addiction section (Spanish). For questions or complaints about a venue, the official channel is the Ministry of the Interior portal.
  • Support in Mexico City. Mutual-aid groups for gambling addiction and public mental-health and addiction services exist locally; your health centre can refer you to the right programme.

Talking to someone you trust is usually the most useful first step. This guide is editorial and independent: it provides no clinical care and does not replace the services above.

Under 18

Entry and gambling are prohibited for anyone under 18. If you share a device with minors, consider parental-control tools that block gambling sites.

Bonuses and promotions

A bonus does not change the house edge. The welcome offers shown elsewhere on this site — such as the online platform’s 777tz code — are a third party’s commercial promotions: they do not apply inside the Hipódromo, they do not improve the odds, and they are not a reason to start a session or to deposit more than you planned.
